All processes, from tanning to final finishing, are carried out in the same facility, ensuring product traceability.
Generally, supply chains are long and often lack transparency, making it difficult to determine the origin of leather materials or the environment in which the animals were raised.However, at Appenzeller Gurt, efforts are made to support sustainable production by collaborating with local slaughterhouses that employ animal-appropriate husbandry practices. This includes the use of organic, biodynamic, and regenerative farming methods, aiming to enhance transparency throughout the supply chain.

Appenzeller Gurt undertakes the following initiatives in the production of its leather goods:

1. Localized Production:
For their leather products, Appenzeller Gurt uses Swiss cowhide, with the tanning process conducted in southern Germany. This is due to the limited availability of high-quality tanning facilities within Switzerland. The German tannery is located just 40 minutes from the Swiss border and operates as part of the local ecosystem. This regional approach helps to shorten transport routes and reduce CO2 emissions.

2. Plant-Based Tanning:
Instead of using harmful chemicals, Appenzeller Gurt employs plant-based tanning methods that utilize natural components such as tree bark and fruits. This results in leather with a lower environmental impact and a natural texture and finish.

3. Avoidance of Chrome Tanning:
Although chrome tanning is faster, it involves harmful heavy metals that can negatively impact the environment when disposed of. To minimize environmental harm, Appenzeller Gurt opts for more eco-friendly, plant-based tanning techniques.

This product is made from 100% sustainably sourced leather.
The raw material for the leather is sourced from organic-certified companies in southern Germany and Switzerland. The leather is tanned locally without the use of chromium or any other chemicals, employing only plant-based tanning methods.
As a result, the collar is soft, flexible, and retains the leather's natural texture and character.

For care, wipe away any dirt or dust with a soft, dry cloth. If stains are more noticeable, using a leather-specific cleaner can be effective.
Apply a small amount of cleaner to a cloth and gently rub it on the collar or leash, then use a dry cloth to remove any excess cleaner.

Avoid getting the leather wet, as excessive moisture can damage it. If the collar gets wet, gently dab off the moisture with a soft cloth and let it air dry in a well-ventilated area.

Shipping Methods
We use either "Yamato Transport" or "Japan Post" for product delivery. Please note that the choice of shipping carrier cannot be specified.

However, for deliveries to Hokkaido and Okinawa areas, we exclusively use Japan Post.

Shipping Fees
For deliveries within Honshu, a flat rate is applied. Different rates apply for Hokkaido and Okinawa.

If the purchase amount is less than 3,000 yen (tax included), a nationwide flat shipping fee is applied, and delivery date/time cannot be specified. Depending on the size of the product, it may be delivered to your mailbox. In such cases, delivery may take longer than regular courier services. Thank you for your understanding.

Shipping Schedule
After confirming the order details, we generally ship twice a week. You can check the shipping schedule here.

Delivery date/time requests can only be made starting five business days after the order date. If no specific date/time is requested, we will proceed with the earliest possible shipment.

Returns and Exchanges
We do not accept returns or exchanges for purchased items.

However, in cases of defective products, we will provide an exchange for the same item. If there is no inventory available for an exchange, we will issue a refund.
